The How2 Presenters

1. The Carol Years
The first series was shot in Maidstone, the second in Southampton (the studios of original How), but returned to Maidstone or series 3. By this time How 2's genius series producer Tim Edmunds had left the show to form a production company called The Media Merchants who are now famous for Art Attack. Tim's place was taken by Adrian Edwards, a highly experienced programme maker in the field of factual television for kids. But once again the "curse of HOW" struck and the show was again orphaned when TVS lost their franchise, just as happened to original How.

But HOW had already returned from the dead once, and the will was there not to let How 2 vanish for a second time. Indeed several ITV companies looked towards acquiring the programme, but their moves were scuppered by Scottish Television, who in a rather canny move employed Nigel Pickard taking him to Glasgow and his portfolio of programmes along with him. Despite now having Scottish ownership a deal was struck where How 2 would remain in Maidstone for a transitional year before being moved to Scotland for series 4.

Continuity to any production is important and this was maintained during the move north of the border when How 2 took along its backbone producer Adrian Edwards director Jeremy Cross, and the presenting team of  Fred, Gareth and Carol.

After a few years bright spark Jonathan Sanderson was brought over from Gareth's other kids facts show The Big Bang and he and quickly became the show's producer, freeing Adrian up to take on directing the show as well as being promoted to Series Producer. In 1997 after 7 years on How 2 Carol Vorderman left the show as her career skyrocketed. How 2 likes to believe that we taught her everything she knows:-)
