Gareth Jones, Eclipse Chaser... Sort
of

A big fan of all things astronomical, Gareth was determined to see the recent
total Solar eclipse despite a number of setbacks. Originally planning to fly
to RAF Culdrose in Cornwall to take part in a massive eclipse festival, Gareth's
plans were scuppered when the venture suddenly folded a week before the event.
Having done a dozen interviews explaining eclipse science for radio stations
around the UK he was psyched up for the celestial phenomenon and had to make
new plans and quick. The weather in Cornwall looked as though there would be
little chance of seeing totality in all it's glory so the best option seemed
to be to stay in London where the sky's promised to stay clear. Accompanied by
his brother John Bryn, the two set off for Greenwich Park, the site of the Royal
Observatory and were treated to a spectacular and eerie show in the heavens with
a partial eclipse visible on a bright clear day. Next stop a trip to South
Africa early in the next Century to see total eclipse... weather permitting!
