Last week's edition of Gareth's live radio show The Weekenders was broadcast
from Gareth's native territory - North Wales. Gareth and Andrea took over the
studios of BBC Wales in Wrexham.
It was a North Walian weekend all right as all the music in the Weekenders was
by local artists, such as World Party, Steps, Super Furry Animals and of course
the Alarm. For Gareth's Birthday a surprise was sprung when Peter Picton former
guitarist in Gareth's school band "Backseat" turned up in the studio
to play a recording of Gareth from way back in 1979.
Gareth presided over Showcase 99, Gareth was in the area to host "Showcase
99" at Clwyd Theatre Cymru in nearby Mold, a gig providing an opportunity
for local bands to play on a large stage with a professional road crew and in
front of a large audience.
