In Praise of TV Rebels

Channel 4's "Top 10 TV Rebels" didn't name Gareth as one of TV's most manic mavericks (not this time, anyway). However, the alternative presenter did feature in the show because he either worked, or was influenced by many of them!

Jones was interviewed on the subject of his heroes, Monty Python and Peter Cook, and then went on to relate his experiences of working with comedy double-act Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, and also Janet Street-Porter.

His stories of Janet were the comments most featured in the show, as Street-Porter was the producer who "discovered" Gareth back in the early 1980s, and propelled him to fame as the anchor for her hit Saturday morning show "Get Fresh".

"C4's Top 10 TV Rebels" originally aired on Channel 4 at 10.30pm on 27th April 2002. Expect it to be shown again on E4 soon.
