The End of the Big Bang...
as we know it
Gareth's 6 year run on the Big Bang is over. The 7th series, due to start shooting early in 2002, will go ahead without him, or his co-presenter, Violet Berlin. Unfortunately, the timing of the filming has clashed with the birth of the on- and off-screen couple's second child.
"At one point, it looked like it might have been possible to schedule filming later, or that I'd be presenting this series with someone else who would keep Violet's place warm, as it were" Gareth informed us, "But then lots of other things about this latest series were changed as well, and it didn't seem like it would be the same show any more".
"I don't want to disappoint The Big Bang's fans - and I know from email that
people all over the world appreciate the show - but, believe me, no one's more
disappointed than me. I don't feel like I've left the show, it's more that
the show doesn't exist any more in its original form. I've really enjoyed the
last
6 years, and can look back and appreciate the opportunity I've had to tell
kids about science and act daft in front of millions of people."
