Jones Fired to Please TV Audience!
Bosses at the Granada Media Group, makers of "The Big Bang" decided
to fire presenter Gareth Jones, when it was suggested by a canny producer that
this might pull in even better ratings.
However, the plan wasn't to fire Gareth from show, but for it. From a 10 metre
long cannon.

In order to create this latest big bang, Gareth joined the Hollywood Stunt Show. The team there had him trained, lowered into the barrel, and then launched 15 meters through the air... to land in a safety net.
"It was all over very quickly", reported Gareth after his brief flight, "I was fine while I was in the air of course, but it wasn't the best of landings, I wound up with a bit of a stiff neck, but felt it was a fair price to pay for the experience of actually being a human cannonball".
It was all done in the interest of science of course. You can see the film of Gareth's flight on "The Big Bang", 4:45pm, Tuesday 30th May.
