Racing for Jason

Once again Gareth got to realize one of his dreams of racing against F1 drivers, when he took part in a charity karting event. Called Racing for Jason it was organized to raise funds for Jason Watt a race driver paralysed in as bike accident in Denmark last year.

"I saw Jason win at Imola in a Formula 3000 race in 1998" said Gareth " I was watching him closely as I felt he could be a star of the future, I was saddened when I heard of the terrible accident."

Gareth's motor sport connections saw him being selected to start on the grid behind David Coulthard, Johnny Herbert, Jan Magnussen, and many other pro race drivers.

"It was a successful race for me, I was really enjoying myself because I know the Raceway well, as it is the usual venue for the Johnny Herbert Kart Challenge " enthused Gareth after taking part in yet another charity karting event.

Over the last 3 years Gareth has driven for The Jordan Formula One Kart Team, however on this occasion he was the guest driver for Power's People, a team put together by entrepreneur Tim Power.

It seems that Gareth might be ready to move over from being a celeb to a pro driver in this pro celebrity event, impressed by Gareth's 42 second lap times he was poached by the rival Belgos' Boys team to drive for them during the same race!

Racing for Jason raised £35,000 for Jason Watt.

Gareth Jones On-Line would like to send Jason the very best wishes.
