In 1994 Gareth and his close friend, director Michael
Cumming ('Brass Eye'; 'Toast Of London', '3 Non-Blondes') formed better Television Ltd.
to write, develop, produce and broadcast a couple of programmes on a
subject close to both of their hearts: the moon landings.
"Over the Moon" was an off-beat documentary on
the Space Race for Channel 4, presented by Gareth alongside Phil Cornwell
(better known, these days, as star of Stella Street and Dead Ringers).
"An Afternoon On The Moon" was a two hour live celebration
for BBC1 of the 25th anniversary of the first Moon landing, presented
by Gareth and Zoë Ball, with guests, Buzz Aldrin, Harrison Schmitt,
Helen Sharman and Dr. Patrick Moore.
