Jones The Voice

Gareth Jones with his Celtic tonsils at the ready at the voice recording suite A1VOX

A new national museum opening in Swansea this October, has chosen Gareth to be its voice of innovation.

The National Waterfront Museum will give visitors an opportunity to investigate Welsh industry and technology. Gareth will be presenting its Frontiers exhibit, which showcases new technologies in science, manufacturing and medicine to which Wales is currently making a world class contribution.

Visitors to the Frontiers exhibit can operate a browsing device to explore the visual story of a number of objects, with each individual story being narrated by Gareth in a choice of English or – of course - his mother tongue, Welsh.

Gareth also acted as a consultant on the Welsh language scripts for other interactive exhibits throughout the major new museum, which prides itself on using the latest sensory devices to bring the past, present, and future to life — from projections that respond to gestures, to tables and drawers that interact with displays.

“It was fantastic – absolutely anhygoel - to be working in the Welsh language again” enthused Gareth, “Mind you, I must admit that narrating in Welsh is a bit trickier than English. If you think the English word ‘bio-degradable’ is a bit of a tongue-twister, you should try pronouncing the Welsh translation – ‘fioddiraddiadwy’….!”
